New food offering for guests at 4-star Sun International beachfront resort
Barcelos, the home of delicious flame-grilled chicken, now has a new home at Wild Coast Sun after recently opening their first branch on Durban’s South Coast.
With a passion for traditional Portuguese flame grilling mixed with their own secret blend of spices and flavours, Barcelos has been bringing families and friends together for almost three decades and has now been added to the list of restaurant options available to visitors and guests at Sun International’s only beachfront resort.
The restaurant is co-owned by Devin Lane, Lonwabo Mtatshi, and Michael Underwood, who say the restaurant offers well-priced meals not only to guests but also the broader community living in the surrounding areas. Three of the staff members are from the Wild Coast Sun Academy and have completed a learnership with the International Hotel School.
The restaurant has an ordering station for take-out as well as an area for customers who prefer to dine in-house. Diners can expect dishes such as whole or pieces of chicken, chips, garlic loaf, coleslaw, pap and spicy rice. Chicken can be ordered in tangy lemon, prego, mild, peri or supa-peri flavours, depending on their personal taste.
“The restaurant opened last week and has already been very busy and well received by those who love their chicken. Barcelos is a wonderful addition to Wild Coast Sun, and we hope our guests enjoy the additional restaurant option giving them an even broader choice of 15 eateries while visiting us,” said Wild Coast Sun General Manager Peter Tshidi.
At the end of 2020, the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa upgraded the beachfront resort to four stars in the hotel category, following upgrades and improvements.
“We are continually looking at ways to add value to our guests and the inclusion of Barcelos is just one of the developments we have lined up for this year. Watch this space!” said Tshidi.
